Great design

All great design is founded on how we as humans perceive our physical environment. Abilities that has evolved over thousand of years. The Gestalt principles of design are thereby the most important principles of good design.

On top of The Gestalt principles there are several other layers like patterns the users know from other places, icons we all agreed on -the burger menu as a good example and in the final UI fashion takes up a lot. There are some fundamental principles we more or less all know and then there can be industry-specific ones that we as designers also need to learn about before entering a new field.

A good process

It all starts with good communication. As a designers, I need to understand the end goal -even if I am only designing a part of it.

One of my great capabilities and interests is to get to the core of what the business would like, the users would love and the developers can deliver, within the timeframe and resources available. Only by achieving this knowledge, the end result will end up as we expect it to be. well-structured meetings and interviews with all stakeholders and user groups is key.
